A large number of sites containing the fossil remains of dinosaurs and other vertebrates that lived at the end of the Cretaceous period
have been identified to the south of the Montsec ridge, which forms the natural border between
El Pallars Jussà and La Noguera (Spain).
Amongst these remains, it is particularly relevant to highlight the footmarks of Fontllonga i Corçà.
If you would like to discover a site in situ, we recommend a visit to the
Mirador observation centre) de la Massana, on the Doll road, where it is possible to see dozens of
footmarks left behind by quadruped dinosaurs. Other sites that deserve special mention include those at
Montsec de Rúbies which have already yielded a significant number of 100 million-year-old remains, including fish, crocodiles, birds, insects and plants. |
