On the western slope of the Serra de Montllobar lies the old village of Arbul, where the Romanesque style Mare de Déu d'Arbul sanctuary with its arcature apse stands. In 1157, Count Arnau Mir de Pallars Jussà left Arbul Castle to the Hospitallers; at the time, its keeper was Roger d'Eroles. It suffered three fires in 1381.
