The Romanesque church of Sant Pere in the village of L’Ametlla has been subject to quite extensive reforms as the original building was badly damaged by earthquakes in 1427. The main door is Romanesque in style, but it does not conserve its original columns and capitals.
The building has a nave and a round apse. In the apse, the cornice contains sections of stones, concave moulding, decorations and smooth earth-coloured sections, combined with the hard, grey stone ornamentation. Two rows below, there is another cornice with scaffolding holes that are so symmetrical that they effectively serve as decoration. In the middle of the apse there is a semi-circular window. |
