The parish church of Isavarre is located in the highest part of the village. This is a remarkable Romanesque-style temple
with a single nave. The apse is dotted with ornate corbels with carved heads.
The building has a decorated main facade with a chequer-board style archvault and two plain interiors with two columns
on each side, crowned by carved capitals that may be related to those on the facades of the churches of Sant Joan
d'Isil and Alòs d'Isil. The roof is raised over a barrel vault and the nave has the characteristic paving of the
area and also boasts a well-conserved font. (Fragments of) The original paintings in the apse are conserved in the
Museu Diocesà d'Urgell, in La Seu d'Urgell. |
