This is the parish church of the village of Sant Llorenç de Morunys, which also explains why it is located in the centre of the village. This church was declared a monument of historic and artistic interest in 1976. It dates from the 11th century and is a basilica-style temple with three naves separated by stone pillars. It has a cross-shaped layout and its central part is covered by a barrel vault, while the two laterals are covered by arris vaults.
The structure is 25 m long, 15 m wide and 15 m high at the central part of the main navel.
The lower part of the central apse houses the remains of murals painted at the end of the 13th century and beginning of the 14th century. |
