The church of the monastery of Santa Maria de Vallbona is built in a transition between the Romanesque and Gothic styles. HIt is particularly important to mention the two domes; one is the lantern dome and the other is the bell-tower dome. There is a sarcophagus on either side of the sanctuary. Work on the cloister began in the 12th century, but there are signs of different architectural styles in each of the wings.

In 1931, the monastery was declared a Work of National Cultural Interest.
